Design Brief
The new building in Clapham replaced the existing two-storey detached house with a five-storey residential structure featuring a basement and accommodation within the roof space.

Due to limited space, the construction method was meticulously planned to ensure all components fit within the site boundary without compromising the unit sizes.

The ground conditions were well-suited for this project, comprising of medium-dense loamy soil, which remains stable and provides excellent bearing capacity.
Technical Info
The superstructure design posed challenges due to discontinuities in structural support. This meant a transfer structure at the ground and first-floor levels was required.
A continuous spine wall aided structural stability, allowing for conventional progressive construction with load-bearing masonry above the basement level. This avoided the need for a full steel frame.
For this project, PCC provided detailed CAD drafting of the sub-structure, structural design of both the basement substructure and superstructure, reinforcement detailing of all reinforced concrete works, and preparation of CAD drawings. Regular site visits ensured project progress and adherence to specifications.
